Riley Prom

Prom shopping; they insisted on wearing their clothes home

Melanie with her friend Laura; both Riley siblings
We planned to go to the Riley Prom again this year, and the kids were excited!  We went downtown several weeks ahead of time for "Promingdales," where the kids pick out outfits and accessories.  They wore the outfits home, Joey wore his to school, Mel had worn hers to church, .....

Then the day of prom arrived.  We planned to meet Jeff there, because he had a doctor appointment.  Joey didn't seem amenable to this plan, and decided he didn't want to go.  Melanie, however, had other plans, and wouldn't give up the dream of going.  So.... Girls Night Out to prom!  We had a good time, she got to dance with her friend from school, Laura, eat from the chocolate fountain, see magic tricks, play games, etc.  About 8pm, Joey turned to Jeff and said "I want to go to prom."  Oh, well.

Happy Birthday Joey!

Joey and his buddy Ethan

We celebrated Joey's FIFTH birthday fairly low-key.  He invited his three friends from our street over in between soccer games; two, Ethan & Luke, were able to make it.  Then we had all of the Indiana Worzalas (plus some of their out-of-town friends) over for round two of celebrations.  He's looking forward to getting his golf clubs broken in this summer!

Happy Easter!

A few highlights from Easter 2015!  Julie & Molly stayed the night Saturday night, and we dyed eggs.  Sunday after church, the 6 of us went to Grandma & Papa Worzala's for Easter dinner.

Spring Break - Cincinnati

We spent two nights over Spring Break in Cincinnati.  It was our first time there, and we had a great time!  We spent Sunday in the pool (twice), at the Newport Levee  -the mall area was fun - massages, train ride, the movie "Home," and out for pizza.  Monday, we went out to breakfast, to the aquarium, lunch at the bowling alley, we walked to dinner, and had two more trips to the pool. Tuesday we swam again, and then went to Jungle Jim's.  I would definitely go back - what an easy road trip!
I apparently created this highlight reel at some point, so let's just use that instead of blowing up the pictures on here.  Melanie is holding her new necklace in the bowling picture.
Always a sucker for the car nap, Joey has a death grip on the hotel key.

$1 for a 3-minute massage.  Best money spent.

As they got on the train for a lap around the mall, Melanie exclaimed "We get to do this AND get a massage??!"

Joey was very excited about his new otter - named "Kiki."

Escalators are a new favorite pasttime.

On Tuesday when we got back, the kids were able to burn a lot of steam outside - what a beautiful day!

Losing Teeth

Birthday tooth - bottom left

By April 1, this is what her new smile looked like.  The tooth fairy removed one of her top teeth for her while she slept, and she lost the second one a couple of weeks later.

Other March Highlights

I just thought these pictures were too goofy to not share.  Jeff won box seats through work, and it was a fun mid-week trip downtown for Mel & him.

And then some highlights from a Molly sleepover!

Melanie & Molly went to Alexa's ice-skating competition in Fishers.  Another great photograph by Susan DeHart!

After ice-skating, it was on to Cinderella!

Happy 7th Birthday!

Melanie turned 7 on March 3!  We had her birthday party the evening of March 1, but we had a big snowstorm that day, which prohibited the Doans (including Julie & Molly) from joining, and only one other friend couldn't make it.  The rest of the guests arrived safely to Greek's Pizza in downtown Zionsville.  The celebration continued on Tuesday the 3rd, and Melanie finally got to blow out "real" birthday candles on the 4th when my friends arrived with cupcakes and candles.  The biggest moment of her birthday was when she lost her first tooth since March 2014 just as we sat down to birthday lunch at school.  Exciting times!

Taken at almost exactly 4:57pm on 3/3, to mark the moment of her birth :)

We had Frozen decorations, but my girl smartly went with a soccer cake.

Birthday lunch

I didn't get a good "summary" picture of her birthday party - but I got individual pictures of her with almost all of her party guests.  I decided to go with one of our two favorite party guests.
