| Taking a little break |

| The beauty of this is to show that we don't even have to always get in the water with them! |
We spent the majority of the summer in the pool. Every night after work/school, we typically headed down to the neighborhood pool. Pepper in Melanie's twice-weekly trips to the Monon Center outdoor water park, trips to Gigi's, Laura's, the Westons, and our next-door neighbor's pools, and I think we did pretty well! At the beginning of the summer, I reported that Melanie was comfortable swimming on her own, as long as she knew she could touch. As of this posting, she can swim the length of the pool on her own, she can dive for objects, jump into the deep end and swim to the side, and do a somersault in the water. Joey is completely independent (from us) as long as he has his little floaties (they attach across the chest). Joey dropped out of two different sets of lessons at the beginning of the summer, and Mel had six lessons through Zionsville Community Schools in May to kickstart her summer. It was really just the repeated exposure that rose their confidence levels throughout the summer. It's been a fun summer, and I'm sad that the temperature is dropping and keeping us out of the pool the last stretch of summer!
