One of the things Melanie was looking forward to as she started first grade was eating in the "big lunchroom." Below are a few shots of her enjoying her friends at lunch. Typically, the kids sit with their direct classmates; but when a parent comes, they're allowed to pick two friends to sit at a separate table. My (attempted) rule is for her to pick two different kids each time
